Welcome to the Year 1 Class Page
Miss Hart and Miss Everard
During their time in Year 1, pupils will be discovering lots of new ways to learn and develop their ideas. Pupils will experience a variety of fantastic learning opportunities through our key texts, immersive experiences, practical activities and a range of other learning experiences. As a team, we will work hard together to create a positive learning environment where pupils can be the best that they can be and reach their full potential. Pupils will gain skills and knowledge in Year 1 which they will continue to build upon throughout their time at Goldenhill.
We strive to ensure that every child will...

Autumn Term Learning
Year 1 had an AMAZING start to the year in the Autumn Term. In English our key text was Nibbles The Book Monster and it was lovely to see the children so enthusiastic about a book and the writing they produced during this topic reflected that enthusiasm. In maths, we learnt about place value addition and subtraction and shape. We used part whole models, cubes, Base 10, Numicon and lots of other manipulatives to embed and support our learning and our number facts fluency and knowledge of number started to improve. We learnt so many new phonics sounds and learnt how to follow the rainbow to find a split digraph sound.
We learnt about materials and the senses in science. Childhood in the 1950's and Our Wonderful World in topic. In RE we learnt about who the Christian God is and the creation story. In music we had a fantastic time using the instruments and learning about new musical vocabulary such as pitch, tempo, pulse and rhythm. In computing we went into the hub and were excited to use the desktop computers where we began to develop our mouse and keyboard skills to create a picture and type on paint. In PE we learnt basic sending and receiving skills and had a fencing workshop which was so much fun.
Autumn term was super and the children made great progress and we are looking forward to new learning experiences in the Spring term.
