Academy Council

Our Academy Council plays a valuable role in school life. It is the voice of the children in school. The children put forward suggestions and help make decisions about school events. The School Council members meet with members of staff regularly to talk about their ideas.

On 17th March, some of our Academy Council representatives visited the local food bank. They had a tour of the warehouse and took part in a sorting and packing activity. This gave them an idea of the amazing work that the food bank volunteers do every day!

The children were amazing, as always. Our contact at the food bank was so pleased with how they got involved and said...

"What a kind group of children, you could tell by their questions and comments that they took on board the positive message that we are keen to convey. Please thank them again for their efficient and enthusiastic food sort volunteering!"

Well done Academy Council!

Animal dress-up Day in support of Greyhound Gap

On 4th February 2022, we held an animal dress-up day, where we all came in dressed as our favourite animal. Our costumes were amazing!

We collected HEAPS of donations for Greyhound Gap, our wonderful chosen charity for this academic year. The donations ranged from tinned dog food, to dog treats and squeaky toys! We are so grateful for your amazing generosity, and so are the volunteers from Greyhound Gap.

May we take this opportunity to say a huge huge thank you!

See below for pictures of our wonderful donations and our spectacular costumes!

For the academic year 2021-22, our chosen charity is Greyhound Gap.

Greyhound Gap is a small independent charity set up to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome greyhounds and lurchers who find themselves in a ‘put to sleep’ situation in UK pounds. Funded almost entirely by donations, they rehome around 150 dogs each year.  They can have around 40-50 dogs at any one time in their kennels based in Kidsgrove, Stoke on Trent and a further 30-40 in foster homes.  Greyhound Gap operates on a national basis so our dogs can be homed in most areas throughout the UK.

They are totally self funded and work extremely hard to raise the necessary monies to continue helping these wonderful hounds. This is made possible by fantastic support from their network of volunteers and you, the general public. Without that generosity they could not do the work they do and they are incredibly grateful for every donation they receive, however small.

Every single penny really does help!
