PE Statement of Intent

At Goldenhill Primary Academy, we recognise the importance of PE and the role it has to play in promoting long term, healthy lifestyles. The intent of our PE curriculum is to provide all children with high quality PE and sport provision. It is our vision for every pupil to succeed and achieve their potential as well as to lead physically active lifestyles. We strive to inspire our pupils through fun and engaging PE lessons that are enjoyable, challenging and accessible to all. We want our pupils to appreciate the benefits of a healthy and physically active lifestyle. Through our teaching of PE, we will provide opportunities for pupils to develop values and transferrable life skills such as fairness and respect as well as providing them with opportunities to take part in competitive sport.

PE Statement of Implementation

Pupils at Goldenhill Primary Academy participate in weekly high quality PE and sporting activities.  Our PE programme incorporates a variety of sports to ensure all children develop the confidence, tolerance and the appreciation of their own and others’ strengths and weaknesses. We provide opportunities for all children to engage in extra-curricular activities before, during and after school, in addition to competitive sporting events. This is an inclusive approach which endeavours to encourage not only physical development but also well-being.

PE Statement of Impact

Our curriculum aims to improve the well-being and fitness of all children at Goldenhill Primary Academy, not only through the sporting skills taught, but through the underpinning values and disciplines PE promotes. Within our lessons, children are taught about self-discipline and that to be successful you need to take ownership and responsibility of their own health and fitness. Our impact is therefore to motivate children to utilise these underpinning skills in an independent and effective way in order to live happy and healthy lives.

Aims

It is our aim at Goldenhill Primary Academy to develop and encourage:

  • Competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
  • Children who are physically active for sustained periods of time
  • Engagement in competitive sports and activities
  • Children to lead healthy, active lives

School Sports Premium Funding

The Government is providing each primary school throughout England with additional funding which is to be spent on improving the sports provision within schools. At Goldenhill Primary Academy we believe a high quality PE curriculum should be an integral part of the whole school curriculum and one that staff, pupils and parents understand and can contribute to.  Our school recognises the values that a high quality PE and school sport curriculum gives pupils.
