Signs of Spring

Signs of Spring

Puddles and Rainbows, Signs of Spring

This project teaches children about the weather that happens during spring, it allows them to observe the changes which we see as Winter comes to an end. It allows them to explore natural phenomena, including rainbows. It supports them to explore colour in the natural world. We look at the life cycles of butterflies and frogs. We will read books related to Spring, one of our favourites being The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We will look at the flowers which we find throughout spring and try to paint our own versions of daffodils.

Supporting your child at home

  • Go on a spring walk and take photographs of the signs of spring.
  • Make a weather diary to observe how the weather changes.
  • Visit a pond and look for signs of new life, such as ducklings and frogspawn. Visit again over time to observe changes.
