Hola Mexico!

Welcome to Mexico! Wow! What a creative and fascinating 7 weeks Year 6 have had learning all about Mexico! During this topic, the children explored this unique country, from its towering temples and stunning geography to its pulsing rhythms and fun-packed festivals.

Year 6 started their topic by having a Mexican Party Day full of food, music and games. The children got to make their very own Mocktails using  watermelon as a traditional fruit. Throughout this topic, the children also discovered the mysterious world of the ancient Maya civilisation by looking at their Gods, Religions, Numbers, Writing, Food and how they were discovered. The children created their own Mayan hot chocolate and created their very own Aztec sculpture!

Year 6 celebrated the end of their topic by learning about The Day of The Dead. During this tradional festive day, the children dressed up and designed their very own junk instrument using recycled material and made a 3D Mexican animal! Below are photos of Year 6’s topic work...
