    Goldenhill Primary Academy Uniform Expectations:

    At Goldenhill Primary Academy, we believe that our school uniform promotes a sense of belonging, pride and equality across our school community. We are committed to ensuring that our uniform expectations are affordable, inclusive and in line with Department for Education guidance.

    Mandatory and Optional Uniform Items

    The table below outlines which items are compulsory and which are optional.

    Tie Required Compulsory for all Key stage 2 children to wear shirt and ties from September, children in years 1 and 2 who wish to wear shirt and tie can purchase a tie from the school

    Branded and Generic Uniform Items

    In line with Department for Education guidance, Goldenhill Primary Academy keeps the number of compulsory branded items to a minimum.

    Branded Items

    The following items are available with the school logo:

    • Sweatshirt
    • Cardigan
    • PE t-shirt
    • Book bag

    Parents and carers may choose to purchase branded items from the school supplier if they wish.

    Generic Alternatives

    The following items do not need to be branded and may be purchased from supermarkets, high street retailers or other suppliers:

    • White polo shirts or shirts
    • Grey or black trousers
    • Grey or black skirts/pinafores
    • Grey or black shorts
    • PE shorts, joggers or leggings
    • Socks and tights
    • School shoes
    • Coats

    Plain items in the correct school colours are fully acceptable.

    Seasonal Uniform Guidance

    Some items are seasonal and only required or permitted at certain times of the year.

    Summer Options

    During warmer weather, pupils may wear:

    • Yellow gingham summer dresses
    • Grey shorts

    Winter Options

    During colder months, pupils should wear:

    • A warm waterproof coat
    • Plain dark-coloured joggers or tracksuit bottoms for outdoor PE where appropriate

    Additional cold-weather accessories such as hats, scarves and gloves may be worn outdoors.

    Second-Hand Uniform

    Goldenhill Primary Academy recognises the importance of providing affordable uniform options for families.

    Second-hand uniform is available through the school. Families can:

    • Contact the school office to enquire about available items
    • Access uniform swap or pre-loved uniform events organised by the school
    • Request support in obtaining suitable PE kit or uniform items where required

    Details of upcoming second-hand uniform events will be shared through school newsletters and communication platforms.

    Accessibility, Inclusion and Adjustments

    Goldenhill Primary Academy is committed to ensuring that our uniform policy is inclusive and accessible to all pupils.

    Reasonable adjustments or flexibility can be requested where uniform requirements may conflict with:

    • A pupil’s religion or belief
    • Cultural dress requirements
    • Disability or medical needs
    • Sensory needs or other additional needs

    Parents and carers who wish to discuss adjustments to the uniform policy should contact the school office in the first instance. Requests will be considered sensitively and on an individual basis in partnership with families.

    Financial Support and Hardship Assistance

    We understand that there may be occasions where families require additional support with uniform or PE kit costs.

    Families who may need financial assistance, support with purchasing items, or a temporary hardship adjustment should contact:

    Alternatively, parents and carers may speak confidentially with:

    • The Headteacher or Head of School
    • Family Support Team
    • Pastoral Team

    All requests will be handled sensitively and confidentially.

    Children will be awarded ‘Dojo’s’ for wearing correct PE kit and school uniform.  If children are not wearing correct uniform, a letter will be sent out to parents reminding them of the academy expectations, which are agreed to, as part of the home-school agreement.
